Nationwide - "The Apparition" is technically the writing-directing debut of
Todd Lincoln, though one gets the suspicion while watching the film that
it's been ripped out of his hands due to severe studio tinkering (if this
is so, shame on you, Warner Bros. and Dark Castle Entertainment!). The film
may run just 82 minutes, but the picture's brevity can't hide what a
toothless waste of potential it all is.

Select Cities - "Cosmopolis" is frustrating verging on abysmal verging on
infuriating. To sit through it is to listen to petty, one-note whiners for
the better part of two hours, droning away with dialogue that has been
seemingly shuffled up and dumped out at random onto the script pages.

Nationwide - High-speed pursuits and shoot-outs mingle alongside long-held
secrets revealed, madcap slapstick, and lovelorn pathos. Most of it is good
as an amusing aside, but it is the genuine central relationship that turns
this off-the-wall free-for-all into more than just a throwaway romp.

Probably not. In the heat of the moment, though, director David Koepp has
fashioned the cinematic equivalent of a theme park ride-fun in the moment,
inconsequential in the long run, and over in a blink.
