Are you ready for Fall?

Although you would not know it today or this week, cooler weather and fall are around the corner and it’s never too early to prepare.

Following some simple steps now will make for a safe fall and winter season. 

 

1)      Put outdoor chairs, tables, umbrellas and grills away

2)      Drain garden hoses

3)      Close exterior spigot water shut off in house and open spigots to let drain

4)      Check dryer exhaust vent and clear any debris

5)      Check your roof and make sure there are nor missing shingles

6)      Clean gutters

7)      Buy and have ice melt on hand

8)      Test all home safety devices (smoke and carbon monoxide detectors) and replace batteries as needed

9)      Clean and turn on humidifier with heater

10)   Reverse ceiling fans to push warm air down

11)   Change filters

12)   Keep ample water supply and nonperishable food on hand

13)   Install new batteries in flashlights

14)   Have utility company phone numbers on hand

15)   Keep a blanket, ice/snow scraper, water and emergency kit in your vehicle
